*    First-year students in these schools/colleges are required to take language placement exams if you have ANY previous experience with these languages, regardless of previous credit received.

**  College of Engineering students do not need to take language placement exams; however, you may receive academic credit if you take the exam and score well on it.  

+    If you are studying Piano or Voice Performance, Musical Theatre, or Theatre Performance (Acting) in the School of Music, Theatre & Dance, you are required to take a language placement exam. Other SMTD students are not required to take a language placement exam, but are encouraged to do so if you have any previous experience with these languages.

 

++  If you are studying Performing Arts Technology (PAT) in the School of Music, Theater, and Dance (SMTD), you are required to take the math placement exam. All other SMTD students are exempt from this test.
