Orientation Schedule

Parent & Family Orientation Check-In

Check-in for the Freshman Parent & Family Orientation programs (occurring between June and August of 2018) takes place between 8:00-8:45 a.m. at East Quadrangle, 701 E. University Ave. Please note that Orientation Leaders will depart at 8:45 a.m. for the Welcome Meeting. If you plan to eat breakfast, please arrive early and allow for check-in and eating time before 8:45 a.m.

  • Welcome & Information Session, presented by the Office of New Student Programs
  • Living on Campus, presented by University Housing
  • Career Resources, presented by the Career Center
  • Campus Transportation, presented by the Office of New Student Programs
  • Money Matters, presented by the Office of Financial Aid
  • Lunch
  • The College Transition, presented by Counseling and Psychological Services
  • Student Life: Key Conversations, presented by the Dean of Students Office, the Office of Student Conflict Resolution, the Sexual Assault Prevention & Awareness Center, and University Health Service
  • Healthy Transitions, presented by University Health Service
  • Campus Safety, presented by the Division of Public Safety & Security
  • Student Panel, presented by the Office of New Student Programs
  • Central Campus Tour, presented by the Office of New Student Programs



  • Academics at Michigan, presented by the Office of New Student Programs and University of Michigan faculty
  • Meet with Representatives from your student's academic school or college
  • Optional Study Abroad Info Session, presented by the Center for Global and Intercultural Study (only available Tuesday through Friday)
  • Optional University Library Tour, presented by the Shapiro Undergraduate Library
  • Optional Tech Talk, presented by the Computer Showcase


Parent & Family Orientation officially concludes after your meeting with your student's academic school/college. However, an optional University Library Tour and Tech Talk are available in the afternoon. In addition, if you will be in town on the 3rd day of your student's orientation program, an optional information session about study abroad opportunities (Tuesday - Friday) will be available for your student, and family members are welcome to attend.
