Driving Directions

From the North (Flint)

1. Take US-23 South to M-14 (exit 45)
2. Take M-14 West to Exit 3 - Downtown Ann Arbor (exit turns into Main Street)
3. South East (left) on Packard
4. Left on Thompson Street
5. Right on East Madison
6. South Quad is on the right

From the East (Windsor, Detroit and Airports)

1. Take I-94 West to State Street (exit 177)
2. North (right) on State Street to East Madison
3. Left on East Madison
4. South Quad is on the left

From the South (Toledo)

1. Take US-23 North to I-94 West (exit 35)
2. Take I-94 West to State Street (exit 177)
3. North (right) on State Street to East Madison
4. Left on East Madison
5. South Quad is on the left

From the West (Jackson)

1. Take I-94 East to State Street (exit 177)
2. North (left) on State Street to East Madison
3. Left on East Madison
4. South Quad is on the left

For short-term parking near South Quad, the City of Ann Arbor has numerous meters and parking structures for use. We recommend using the parking structure located on Maynard Street between East William and East Liberty (see the Central Campus map) or the William-Fourth or the Ann-Ashley Street structures. The rate is $.80 cents per hour.

Parents are encouraged to leave their cars parked at the orientation hotels and take the provided shuttle to and from campus.

Students participating in orientation will park in the Ann Arbor city structure at 650 S. Forest Avenue between Willard and South University. Be sure to display an orientation parking hangtag in your vehicle. Hangtags are available from an orientation staff member (on site at the structure Sunday-Wednesday mornings from 7:30am-8:30a.m.) or the South Quad Community Center.

To get to the structure:

From South Quad

1. Head east on Madison St. to the stop sign at State Street.
2. Turn left (North) on State Street.
3. Take an immediate right at the next stop sign (South University).
4. Take South University to Forest Ave and turn right (south).
5. The parking structure will be on your right.

From the East (Windsor, Detroit and Airports)

1. Take I-94 West to State Street (exit 177).
2. Turn right (North) on State Street.
3. Take State Street to Hill Street (approximately 2.3 miles until you reach Hill Street), and turn right (East).
4. Take Hill Street to Forest Avenue (approximately .25 mile) and turn left (North).
5. The parking structure will be on your left.

From the South (Toledo)

1. Take US-23 North to I-94 West (exit 35), then I-94 West to State Street (exit 177).
2. Turn right (North) on State Street.
3. Take State Street to Hill Street (approximately 2.3 miles until you reach Hill Street), and turn right (East).
4. Take Hill Street to Forest Avenue (approximately .25 mile) and turn left (North).
5. The parking structure will be on your left.

From the West (Jackson)

1. Take I-94 East to State Street (exit 177)
2. Turn left (North) on State Street
3. Take State Street to Hill Street (approximately 2.3 miles until you reach Hill Street), and turn right (East).
4. Take Hill Street to Forest Avenue (approximately .25 mile) and turn left (North).
5. The parking structure will be on your left.

To walk from the parking structure to South Quad:

1. Take Forest Avenue north (left) to South University.
2. Turn left (west) onto South University.
3. You will walk approximately 5 blocks until the road ends at State Street in front of the Michigan Union. Along the way, you will pass shops, East Hall, West Hall, the School of Social Work, the Shapiro Library, Martha Cook, Clements Library, the President's Residence, Law Quad, Tappan Hall, and Alumni Memorial Hall - the University of Michigan Museum of Art.
4. Turn left (south) onto State Street. Walk one block to Madison.
5. Turn right (west) onto Madison, South Quad will be on your left.
