Unlike some other colleges and universities which use tuition dollars to fund their parent orientation programs, at the University of Michigan, the Parent & Family Orientation program is a self-supporting program and receives no tuition dollars.
As a result, the Office of New Student Programs charges a fee only to those parents and family members who attend the program. The fees are designed to cover the entire cost of the program. The fee covers all overhead costs, including room rentals, technology rentals and fees, student staff salaries, meals and tips, beverages and delivery fees, program materials, invitation printing and postage fees, and all other publications.
The fee for Parent & Family Orientation 2016 is as follows:
- One Person: $70
- Each Additional Person: $35
Parent & Family Orientation fees are collected at check-in. We do NOT accept any orientation fees in advance. When you arrive at Parent & Family Orientation check-in, please be prepared to pay the program fee. We accept cash, checks, Visa, or Mastercard.
Please Note: The orientation fee is different than the $300 Enrollment Deposit that students pay in advance to the University to secure their place in their freshman class.
