Mentorship 2009 Photo Gallery______________________________ Each of the events pictured were planned and organized by Mentorship Communication Coordinators. We begin recruiting for this position in November and post the link to the application on our staff page for interested students. Mentorship-UHS/PULSE De-Stress Study Break October 14, 2009 Michigan League Kalamazoo Room This health-centered study break offered free professional massages, healthy snacks and chair-yoga excercises for participants, as well as useful information on keeping a healthy diet and balanced life from University Health Services staff! In conjunction with the UHS/PULSE program, this was the first such event from Mentorship that we will offer in the future thanks to positive response from participants.
_______________________________________________________________________ Mentorship Pizza Tasting October 22, 2009 East Hall Atrium (Psychology) Our third annual event drew Mentorship participants from all over campus to taste and rate pizzas donated from local businesses. This was one of the many events planned by our staff where Mentorship groups were able to meet, catch up and plan activities. Through our highly sophisticated nomination system, Cottage Inn was voted Best Pizza in Ann Arbor by Mentorship.
_______________________________________________________________________ Mentorship Pre-Professional Workshop November 4, 2009 Michigan Union Kuenzel Room This event was a drop-in workshop for students considering their majors who wanted to talk with a knowledgeable student, faculty or staff member about their options for courses and future careers! We had a great turnout of students from various disciplines to talk to Mentorship student staff, volunteer faculty members, professional staff at the University and students with experience to help participants make an informed decision. We had support and assistance from current staff mentors and UM professionals: Chyrisha Brown (current staff mentor and former CC, pictured left) and Martha Kirpes (LSA Academic Advising, current staff mentor pictured right)! Law, Medicine, Psychology, Organizational Studies, Engineering, Architecture and others were present as well.
_____________________________________________________________________ Mentorship One Love Show Viewing November 14, 2009 Michigan League Ballroom Zeta Sigma Chi Sorority Inc., UM's first multicultural sorority put on their annual One Love Show and Mentorship was there to see it! The event featured dance and singing groups, photography art and student groups from all over campus! This was an eclectic student-generated show that responded to the theme question "what is culture?" through various forms of expression.
_______________________________________________________________________ Mentorship "Service Lovin'" Community Service Excursion November 15, 2009 Artist Village, Detroit This year Mentorship traveled to Detroit to help restore the Artist Village Community Center located on Lahser rd. The center was founded by muralist Chazz Miller who runs various art-centered and educational programs for youth, children and community members. Mentorship visited for an afternoon to assist the center with painting and clean-up and to learn about some of the initiatives they plan once renovations are complete.
______________________________________________________________________________ Mentorship Backpacking Courses Workshop November 18, 2009 Shapiro Undergraduate Library PC/Mac classroom Mentorship invited LSA Academic Advisors to assist with the backpacking (UM's term for selecting) courses process for mentors and mentees! With the aid of these experts, students were able to navigate Wolverine access, discuss their choices for courses, learn which courses would fit best with their major interests, hear from our staff and other students in the room about classes they recommend and make the backpacking process easier and quicker! This event was a successful follow-up to the Mentorship Pre-Professional Workshop earlier this month.

December 6 , 2009 Futureball Paintball, Whitmore Lake This high energy activity was perfect for letting off steam before finals! Mentorship travelled to Whitmore Lake for some healthy competition and bonding over pizza! ______________________________________________________________________ Mentorship Winterfest! December 9, 2009 Michigan Union U-Club Our second annual event was a smash! We brought back our gingerbread house competition (the winner designed the Big House), featured a picture frame decorating service project and board games, food, cocoa and a hip hop performance and DJ. A great study break in preparation for the close of the semester. Groups were able to get back in touch one final time before our final event, the Mentorship Medical School Tour on the 15th. _________________________________________________________________________

Mentorship 2009 OPENING EVENTS! Mentor Reception Sept 10, 2009 Palmer Commons Great Lakes Room Reception is a Mentors only event that provides new and returning mentors an opportunity to meet, discuss ideas for making effective mentoring groups and learn more about what Mentorship is planning this semester!
_________________________________________________________________________ Mentorship Kickoff Sept 17, 2009 Biomedical Sciences Research Building Atrium The first Mentorship-wide event for mentees and mentors to find their group members, meet our staff, eat, plan future activites and have fun!
