University MentorshipMENTORSHIP PROGRAM LINEUP for FALL-WINTER 2009:A SNEAK PEEK AT OUR EVENTS and ACTIVITIES! We have an exciting semester planned for Mentorship--if you are a mentee, peer mentor or faculty/stafff mentor, there will be lots of great opportunities to familiarize yourself with campus, get to know other participants and take part in fun, free or subsidized activities. Each program is planned by our fantastic team of Communication Coordinators who start working during the spring and summer prior to Kickoff, and work the entire academic year to offer a series of useful, exciting and diverse activities for Mentorship. Calendars and event reminders are sent out throughout the month via email so participants are always informed about what activities are coming up. ____________________________________________

OPENING EVENT FOR ALL MENTORSHIP PARTICIPANTS! Thursday, September 17: MENTORSHIP KICKOFF Biomedical Sciences Research Building, Atrium 5:30pm registration 6:30-8pm meet your mentorship group, activities and dinner This is our annual opening event where ALL mentorship groups are invited to meet, plan activities for the semester and decide which programs planned by our staff you would like to attend. This is designed as an interactive, informative event with giveaways, prizes and games, as well as time to meet and connect with your mentors. If you are a mentor or mentee who cannot make this event, please inform your group of your absence. _______________________________________________________________ This event is for faculty and staff mentors only: Tuesday, September 29: Faculty/Staff Mentor Networking Lunch Alumni Center conference room 11:30am-1pm This event is a follow up from the FS mentor summer orientation sessions, and a good opportunity to check in with our staff for those who were unable to attend. At this event, you will meet and network with other f/s mentors, hear advice from experienced mentors, revisit your goals for the semester and mix and mingle in a coffeehouse setting. Sunday, October 4: Detroit Tigers v. White Sox Baseball Trip to Comerica Park Buses depart the Michigan union at 11:30am Game time at Comerica Park is 1:05pm on the Dew Deck! Tickets to this event will be sold to participants in Mentorship (via email) for a fee of $35 per person, a discounted rate for Mentorship participants. Non-Mentorship tickets will be available to friends or family of Mentorship participants for $52. Price includes travel to and from Comerica park, food (hot dog and beverage) and a seat on the Dew Deck. Limited spaces available! Tickets will be sold to participants beginning September 17.
__________________________________________________________ Oct 9: The Annual Mentorship Photo Scavenger Hunt Cameras are due to the Mentorship Office 5pm on Friday, Oct 9. Need a camera? Contact your peer mentor, who received one at the Mentor Reception on Sept 10. Run out of film? We will reimburse mentors (for cameras used for our purposes only) for additional disposable cameras (up to 3). Bring receipts to 1100 LSA and complete a form at the front desk. Need clues? Learn tips to reduce stress and relax during one of the busiest times of the year with the help of Mentorship and the University Health System's PULSE (Peers Utilizing Leadership Skills for Education is a student-run, UHS-sponsored organization promoting health in residential communities). This is why we're planning a workshop dedicated to the ins and outs of online selection of courses with a team of expert facilitators from LSA Academic Advising! You have to backpack anyway; why not do it with us? Learn about the classes you need for certain undergraduate schools and get help navigating wolverine access to backpack your courses. Sunday, December 6 Mentorship Goes Paintball 12-3pm Vans Depart from the Union at 11am Need to release some tension with some good old-fashioned competition? Join Mentorship on a paintball trip, that also comes with a catered barbecue afterward! UMix provides opportunities for students to have fun, relax and enjoy Friday nights in the comfort of your student Union! UMix features live entertainment, movies, dances, student organization sponsored events, hands on activities and many other social events that your Mentorship core might enjoy. The Alumni Association's 30 Minute Mentors Program Want professional mentoring? This program is open to all undergraduate students and allows future alumni to ask questions and learn about careers in a variety of fields.
